Trace is carving the next frontier of business intelligence on the modern data stack. We cut analytics friction by automating common patterns and workflows, saving data teams enormous time while empowering business users. The technology breakthrough is leveraging business semantic modeling.

We are funded by top tier VCs (FirstMark and Amplify) and angels in the data/dev tooling space. Our founding team is exceptional with lived experiences in scaling high-growth startups (Uber, Rent the Runway) and eager to build this overdue new category of data software.

We are solving hard technological challenges: from creating a new abstraction in the data stack that maps datasets to business semantics, to building a suite of metric transformations for various use cases.

What we are looking for

• A senior, strong individual contributor who can communicate, debate, and influence others. A tech lead-type role in a prior team is a huge plus.
• You have deep experience designing, implementing, and maintaining data-intensive applications.
• You have deep experience with SQL, and a huge plus would be intimate knowledge of one or more modern cloud warehouses like Snowflake, Redshift, and BigQuery.
• You possess knowledge of ETL-type data pipelining design and implementation.
• You have the perfect balance of architectural thinking and bias to action.
• You are a natural in popular languages like Python and Scala/Java, and exploring or proficient in up and coming Rust.
• You have a good understanding of data workflows in modern orgs and what analysts do for a living. You have the passion to dig in and develop a deep understanding of their use of tools
